Troubleshooting my fuel gauge...
Is there any way to know what needs to be replaced in order for my fuel gauge to work? It always sits on empty. I suspect the fuel sending unit but could it be the gauge itself or something else? How should I troubleshoot this?

I'm sure if you look in the FSM it has some resistance rating that the sensor should be depending on what the level is, you could just take it out and play with the lever thing and a multi-meter.

The onlin and free fsm has a section on BODY ELECTRICAL. There you will find how to tell if the gauge or the sender unit is good or bad. Plus there are the wiring schematic to look at also.

Basically you remove the fuel pump plug. You attach one end of a 32 ohm resistor to the White/Green wire and the other end of the resistor to a KNOWN ground. The gauge will go to half gauge reading IF the key is to ON.
Power to the gauge is the same power used for the volt meter, so if the volt meter works, then it follows the water gauge should have power.
Actually that came from the 87fsm in a section called METERS who'da th0ught.
