i have a 91 sport coupe n/a. it wont start with the key at first. however it will push start. and after it has been push started it will restart with a key for about ten minutes. is my ignition swutch bad? what should i do. also im a total newb. just got my 7 sunday and i already love it. (when it starts).

 

sounds like your starter is going,does it turn over at all?try beating it with a small hammer.mine does that too,sometimes,turn key and 5-10 sec later it starts to turn.Look around for a garage that specializes in auto electrics,you may be able to get it rebuit.My local alternator/generator shop rebuilds for $25,a substantial savings over the auto parts store new model which is most likely rebuilt anyway.

 

i hit it with a hammer and it started to turn really slow. this is with a new battery and another car jumping me. so i pulled it out and had it tested. it passed. whats next? am i getting a bad connection somewhere? one of the terminals on the selanoid is kind of loose.
