CT Trouble removing Rear Hub Carrier

Hey guys! I have a 1990 GXL and I have been having trouble removing the rear hub carrier. All three bolts holding it on have been removed however the area where the top bolt would normally sit cannot be pulled off the rest of the rear end. I consulted the workshop manual but it was not specific at all. It almost feels like there is a bushing or something pushed through that prevents it from leaving the car. Any help would be appreciated and I can post photos later. Thanks!

There is a bushing holding you back.,
when the bolt goes through the top portion of that "horseshoe" it pushes a bushing up against the assembly and squeezes it inwards.
My guess is that your problem lays right where that big circular looking spacer is.That is where that bushing lays.
Get a small V like object in there, like a screw driver and that should give it enough UMPH to move that bushing and to get the 2 pieces separated.

Now once you got the pieces separated there is a way to put the bolt back on and put the nut on inside the hub assembly horseshoe. You then Bang on the bolt and get the bushing to back out flush and then you can assemble the hub more easily when putting it back on.

The side that has the pressed in steel tube, wack it with a hammer a couple times. The hub will come right off.

Thanks for the help! My dad and I ended up breaking that plastic washer to get it off. Then we just manufactured a new piece from some thin acrylic.
