I believe the counterweights (formed as part of the stock flywheel) are different between S4 and S5. The clutches and transmissions however, I believe are interchangeable.

Just remember to keep the tranny brace that's applicable to the transmission.

Post of the year!
hahaha

it is indeed very important to know, when somebody doesn't know about it... i mean, now 513rotary knows that killinit937 doesn't know! great progress...

man serious: you can swap the tranny plus clutch, but not the flywheel!
s4 have heavier rotors, due to that, the counterweight casted into the flywheel is also heavier! you'll have to get a s5 flywheel or an aftermarket one!

I have both, my 90 has a bad clutch in it, the flywheel is still good, not scorched , groved, or warped, whereas the 88 has a practically brand new clutch in it, the 88 isnt running so I wanted to swap trannies. So, If I swap the flywheels as well, then Ill be in business correct?

yes! swap the good tranny and clutch of your s4 and take the s5 flywheel and you'll be fine

S4 clutch/flywheel = 205 mm.

So the S4 clutch does work on the S5, just not optimally?

Well according to airworks, no, he said the counterweights are diff and whanot, which I understand, Size doesnt matter, My buddy put a 2001 dodge cummins dlutch in a 97, differen sizes like the fcs r, but, it works, and hasnt had a problem since he put it in, over a year ago. If the counterweights and whatnot r goign to destrpoy diveability then Ill swap the flywheels. I just didnt want to deal with the hassle of swappin the flywheel.

Well, the landing area for the clutches are different for each flywheel. I seriously doubt that swap would work, and if it did, it wouldnt work well.

You just keep telling yourself that.

Good to know. So just go with the tranny and be done with it.

All I sai dis it works, and it does pretty well due to the fact that he does competition truck pulls, the contact areas didnt line up well, I didn tthink it would work, but, after a year of beating on it, no problems. Thats all. I was just curious if it would be similar with the fc's or not, thats all.
