trany to engine bolt Q
trany to engine bolt Q
I;m just about to pull my engine when i go and strip the crap out of the last bolt holding the tranny to the engine. It's the bolt just below and to the right of the starter (had to remove the started to get to it) I tried usign a dremmel to square off the sides, but just rounded i toff again trying to get it off...I then tried to drill it out....got the reverse threaded bit, tapped her in good, then when i go to turn it it shatters the reverse threaded bit. I then tried to redrill it, but my drill bits cant get through the carbide reverse threaded guy. My questions is does anyone have anyother tricks to try, or knwo if I can just cut the head off entirely and pull the engine foreward and then worry abotu gettign it out..or does it thread into both the tranny and engine?
It doesn't thread into the transmission. I would cut it off with a sawzall or something, slide the transmission off, spray it down with penetrating oil, let it sit a while, beat it with a hammer, and then take it out with a small pipe wrench, or vise grips.
