Exclamation transmission stuck on reverse...ASAP

hi,

well i searched the archives but no such problem existed.

my rx7 is stuck on reverse and can be driven only in reverse all the time....funny but true.
the shifter is on neutral , which is basically not acting as neutral but as reverse .
I could shift 1st and 2nd gear but as I let go of the clutch the tach is starting to go down with the load and engine died down.
the rest of the gear range are non existence. the 3rd, 4th, 5th and rev, trying to shift into those gear are solid as a rock. Meaning they dont exist, shifting in 3rd gear direction is like hitting the stick on a concrete.
I got fluids on my reservoir and the clutching is good cause when depressing the clutch in neutral, the vehicle move....
this happen last friday of sept, when i was going home from my base and slowing down. I down shifted to 1st gear when clutch is disengage coming to the intersection. the engine died down with the load, I started it again but the shifter is in neutral and by depressing the clutch...the car started stunningly going reverse, I nearly hit the car from the rear. so I check all gear range, only 1st and 2nd gear able but not working.
I went crazy looking for solution to what happen. the rest are stone and I driven it to the corner out of middle exit because of the incoming traffic in " Reverse!"...i was thinking of driving it to home in reverve but cops pulling me over and othe people might thinking that I'am retarded. I desided to call and help from a friend to pick me up. The rx7 is still on the road stuck in rev . I'am thinking of getting a wreacker to pick it up to my apartment.

Help please....

pull the shifter and take a look at the shifter bore, i'm betting its all fubared up, possibly cracked and split open causing the shifter ball to pop out of its groove.

Your master/slave cylinder may have crapped out, or maybe your pilot bearing is toast.

if it was a clutch assembly issue then it would be able to go into neutral and gear with the engine off, sounds like a shifter issue.

Your reverse switch is stuck, its happened to me a few times. You'll have to remove the switch that is on it and pry it back into "neutral" position. I'll see if I can find my thread.
