transmission stuck
my clutch is pretty bad and planning on changing it within the next 2 weeks. i move it once a week because of street cleaning. This morning when i tried to move the car, it was really hard to put the car in gear. IT was like all the gears was locked. i was finally able to force it into gear 1. is there anything wrong with my transmission?? or is my clutch soo bad that i cant even change gears?

it could be a worn out pilot bearing..
Or it could be worn out hydraulics (clutch master or slave) or a hydraulic leak that wont allow you to disengage the clutch. were you able to disengage/re-engage it when you drove it?

this guy hit it on the nail....
try pumping the pedal about 10 times rapidly before you put it in gear. if you can slide it into gear easily after that, it is your pilot bearing.

it is highly unlikely that will happen. as the tranny woudl grind when the input shaft is still spinning, or it would stop it....

Get a new clutch set! I had this same problem and both my pilot bearing and throwout bearing were bad. I just got a cheapo clutch for now and replaced the pilot bearing and throwout bearing as well. The car runs great now lemme tell ya. That'll fix your problems for sure.

Wrong. If you pump up the hydraulics and then you can engage gears, its your hydraulics. The pilot bearing will not lock you out of gears. Please explain how pumping the hydraulics 10 times will cause a pilot bearing to work..

Naw should be good cause you said all gears won't go right? When you have the car off can you shift through gears okay because that's how mine was. Then I'd turn the car off and it would shift through gears still.
Like I said I replaced the pilot bearing, throwout bearing, and the clutch and pressure plate. Since they came in a kit all together. Now the car is running excellent Especially with my Mazda Reman motor with only 3K miles!!!! Man I love saying that.
