transmission shot??? idk...clutch burnt???

ok, i have an 87 n/a with mods to the suspension, exhaust, tires, brakes, and a new 13b motor with 40K miles on it, the chassis has around 164,000 miles on it..the other day i was driving it normally and when i slowed up to a red light i could feel like something was grabbing trying to slow the car down....i pushed in the clutch and it acted as if the clutch was still engaged....when i came to a complete stop it was as if the gear box locked up? because i couldn't shift into ANY gear positions at all! i turned the car off and put it in first gear and then turned the car on...it sounded as if the starter had gone bad at first then fired up, the car began pulling forward lunging as if it was trying to advance. this only happened momentarily and then i was able to pul off into a parking lot.....thiis happened again yesterday morning (when turned on it acted as if it was pulling forward and i'm sure it would have had the e-brake not been engaged)....the clutch has about 4K miles on it...(not sure what kind of clutch it is as i am a new owner of this car) the clutch is under warranty so i dropped it off at where it was installed at......do any of these symptoms sound familiar? (gear box locking up/ feeling like it is grabbing while pulling up to a stop) when it is working fine it shifts smoothly so idk if its the clutch....any ideas????

Sounds like your clutch is going out....at least I've seen a friends parents car do the same thing, and they swapped out the clutch to fix it.

have you bleed the slave cylinder? sometimes the throw out bearing starts to leak with old age(and high mileage) try to bleed out the clutch and see if the thing will shift to neautral,if the car is trying to move forward when clutch is pushed in the clutch is not releasing, however if the throwout bearing is leaking and needs replaced ya might as well put a new clutch plate in at the same time as its soon to follow due to fluid soaking friction material

Thats really a judgement call on your part, stock friction,if your not planning to be to abusive, mazda,I have an ACT clutch/pressure plate in my TII,and a napa clutch in my n/a. if ya took it to the shop I hope that was the first thing he checked,if not run away and never go back,if he recomended that bearing and input shaft seal when the motor was put in your going to have to learn the hard way like everyone else, hope it is something simple
