ive never seen one around on the internet... that might be something you have to get from mazda... and i hope you have messed with trannys before because the body shop i used to work at... well we tinkered with one and then decided that transmissions are the ONE thing on the car that we would all leave to the PROS

I'm in the early stages of rebuilding a spare NA tranny I have, I'm just making a parts list as I tear it down, and will go to my Mazda dealership for the unique stuff when needed...

This question HAS been asked before, and someone posted a link to a place that has rebuild kits (I don't think NA trannies were on there, but turbos might have been)...Do a search...

well i dont see n/a on there and those trannys are COMPLETELY different than the turbo trannys... like wayne said you might just have to make a parts list and go to mazda or see if you can buy what they do when they give a tranny tune up.. they might have a kit or something for their mechanics

Yeh, I think that was it. I just figured I'm going to replace a lot more than just rebuild kit type stuff, that's why I'm making a parts list as I'm going along. Once I get the list done, I'll compare it to their kit, and see how close it matches what I need...

i mean the turbo trannys are completely different compared to the n/a trannys... im assuming the gearing is higher and i also know its more bulletproof... not sure about the actual specs but i know the insides are very different

I would try to call Mazdatrix. (www.mazdatrix.com) I don't know if they sell rebuild kits, but if they don't I'm sure they will point you in the right direction.

Rebuild kits are available for both transmissions.Once you pull the tranny apart you might as well get it magna fluxed, shot peened, and gears deburred so the tranny can be bullet proof compared to stock.Just my 2 cents.

Um, guys, I looked into this whole escapade with the dealership. For a synchro ring set and rebuild gaskets and bearings, it was $512 or so. A little high, but I am used to straight cut non-synchroed hewland tranny's (wish I could get one on my car)

yes...i'd like that too.....but sadly....the pocket wont allow such a drastic project....i think the stock tranny is good for something like 500ish HP...and since i wont be getting anywhere near there...im just gonna replace the parts that gets worn down....well...maybe if we find a good deal on a group buy on cryo treatment or something...but i doubt that'll happen

ohh yeah...daily update...no word from the company

I'm not aware of a "rebuild kit" available from Mazda, but most times parts replacement are necessitated after a teardown inspection.

hey guys, i'm totally new to the mazda/rx-7 scene, and i'm originally a subie guy ^^;; looking to buy a fc though.
anyways, for the subaru impreza, there's a place in the bay area that would take a stock tranny and take it apart and put in the type ra (sti) gear set and stuff into the tranny casing. that was running for almost half price compared to buying a new sti 6-speed transmission.
is there an option like that for the rx-7?
the subarus are known for having a "glass transmission" for the rs and wrx trims,
but the sti trims have the flagship transmission, and in japan, there's the 5 speed tranny, so the shop would buy the gearset from subaru of japan, and install them inhouse.
thought it might be an option

hmm....rx7 is mazda's flagship...so i assume the best of what they offer goes in the rx7 to begin with.especially for the T2....these cars arent known for a weak transmission..its just with age the syncos gets worn out and needs to be replaced.....

No.
The FC turbo and FD already uses the "R-type" heavy duty transmission, and this is the strongest manual trans Mazda made in those years.

"The syncro ring kit for the 5 speed in part umber ASK212A your cost
is $54.64 plus the S&H."

is it just me or does this deal seem too good to be true?....what other parts would i need besides the syncro ring kit and bearings/gaskets/seals?....parts are only ~250??......

Those are not Mazda part numbers.
Those sound like their own part numbers and not official Mazda part numbers.
