transmission problem...help please

To start off I have searched the forum for a while but to no avail, so im asking straight up. My problem lies in the tranny. And is intermittent.

S4 N/A

When first driving the car, even after a long warm up in the driveway the transmission shifts flawlessly.

But here is were my problem lies, once the car has been driven for a certain period of time, say 10 minutes, it starts to grind going into 2nd( a little) and then 3 is the most noticeable( both upshifting and downshifting). I know that these trannies weak points are 2nd gear synchro going bad but the problem would be at all times.

The fluid is clean and at the proper level. Clutch, pilot and throwout bearings were replaced 30,000km ago and feels great with both slave and master cylinders not leaking and working properly.

If I shift slowly it will go into both gears with no problems but i mean very slowly. Forget about downshifting, thats a lost cause. i think I could write about this for another 10 pages but I just wanted to start with the most useful information.

Thanks in Advance

Check the clutch fluid. There may be air in the system.

I have blead the system already with no air in the system, the fluid was just dirty. My pedal felt tighter, that is all.

Thanks though

Have you replaced the shifter bushings?
Mazdatrix.com has a great write-up on how to do that!

You know what I have suspected the bushings but decided it wasnt them cause I usually think that most problems are more complicated.

They are a little shot, due to play while in gear but i look at mazdatrix write up. very informative site.

Thanks

IT's easy to do and doesn't cost much. You could also try replaceing the trans fluid with redline etc.....
