Transmission nut
Transmission nut
Easy question: How do you guys remove the nut at the 12 o'clock position holding the transmission to the engine?
I'm having an incredibly hard time trying to get this nut off. The bolts are popping right out, but the nut remains. I've been trying to get at it from up top, and will try from down below tomorrow.
My '7 is so close to beeing back on the road, and then this nut gets stuck.

When we did it we had to use a 3/8 rachet with a long extension, swivel joint, short extension, a impact gun swivel joint, then the socket. We used an impact gun swivel joint because it stays in place better than a regular one. We had to go at it from the bottom, hell of a lot easier that way.
We did it slowly with just on open ended wrench, it was a pain but we got it done. I laid under the car while my friend blindly held the wrench down, I guided it to the bolt every time it came off.
Thanks guys, I got mine off today with a 14mm deep impact socket and 1/2 drive breaker bar, from under the car. It was on there pretty firm, I borrowed a couple U-joints and extensions and couldn't get enough torque to break it.
The new transmission is in now, oh happy day!
