Transmission mounts - what is interchangeable?
My mount is fubared to hell and back. I thought I'd find an S5 NA used one pretty quickly, but it hasn't happened. Mazdatrix is showing different crossmember sections for the s4/s5/turbo/na. The only thing the same are the side blocks (except the convertible). How different are the crossmembers? Is there any way to rig any of these to work on my s5 na? I'm getting sick of "clunk, screech, clack clack...thud". I'm planning on going to a turbo drivetrain soon, so I don't want to spend much mony on this damn thing. Even the steel insert for the center rubber is gone. So I can't just craft my own polyurethane mold.

Well, as you put it, pretty much only the rubber blocks & maybe the center metal "Y" piece (within series) can be swapped. It the crossmembers that change everything. There are four different crossmembers for manual transmissions (S4 NA & turbo, S5 NA & turbo). You could probably open up the mounting holes and bends things a little to make things fit, but it's the hack way to go. Just buy a used crossmember & mount off of someone in the classified section. I can't see it being more than ~$20.

just buy the mount from mazdatrix. Chances are any mount you find will have the center bushing blown out which causes the transmission to hop up and down and destroy your engine mounts
