Transmission mounts.

So, my transmission is sitting really strange. I think it may be what has been causing all the noise when I am driving. Maybe...

The center "mount" or bushing on the cross member is poking down. It looks like the transmission is sitting on the cross member. The Y doesn't appear to be holding the transmission up at all.

Isn't that center bolt supposed to sit up? Would the transmission sitting like that cause a metallic click sound? And a whine when decelerating? I am thinking if the transmission was sitting that low, the heat shield may have been rubbing or vibrating against it.

I am avoiding dropping the whole transmission out. My initial thought was that it was the clutch or a bearing. But seeing the transmission sitting like that, maybe it was just the driveshaft sitting wrong.

Thanks!

You'll need a new crosmember and 2 trans mounts.

My transmission mounts are the banzai racing mounts. They still appear to be in great condition. I may just need a crossmember? Should the center bushing be attached to the bottom of the crossmember?

Also, do you think this could have caused the clicking noise? Possibly drive-shaft on exhaust shield?

So, got the car back down. After tightening the transmission mounts and adjusting them up, the transmission is back to sitting normal. The clicking has gone away, it appears to have been the drive shaft rubbing on the heat shield. It only did it when i pressed the gas because the engine would shift back slightly.

Time to replace the crossmember and possible put a miata transmission in... haha.
