transmission issues, possible solutions?:
well recently , as in last week my car hasn't been going into 5th gear very easily at all it grinds a lot, its like the clutch isn't diengaging the transmission.
now i noticed there is some tranny fluid under the tranny but i'm fairly sure thats just residue from when i did the tranny flush. the previous owner said the clutch lines would need to be bled sometime, so does this sound like it could be the problem?
if so how do i bleed the clutch lines, any tutorials orsomething outthere?

double de clutching basically performs the job of the synchro's, as well as matching the engine speed to transmission / clutch speed. So if it works then there's a good chance your synchro's have had it.

well i tried double clutching and it still grinds.
any suggestions?
i had 2 questions, is anything on the transmission electric because couple days ago i had it jacked up and i noticed a wire cut in half off a connector....
also can u fill up ur transmission with fluid from the top, through the shift boot?or is that not right.

I hear that there is a kit to swap in a T5, which is a lot more robust tranny.

I'm having the same trouble, the 5th gear syncro is shot. I hate 5th gear anyways :P. SOMETIMES if you push the clutch in, let it rev ALL the way down it will give a *Clunk* and go into gear without grinding. It's got about 143k miles on it. I've got a back up tranny but it's still got 146k miles on it. Anyone know an avg. decent price for a trans rebuid?

Top off the gear oil. You must use the fill plug and not through the shifter. Also, mild issues can be fixed with quality fluid. I recommend redline MT90. 3 quarts of fluid is cheaper than a rebuild and usually worth a shot.
You should also bleed your clutch. Speedbleeder makes bleeding the fluid easier. It could be time for a new master/slave cylinder. Make sure nothing is leaking.
You could also adjust the clutch pedal.
Download the FSM for info on clutch pedal/fluid bleeding/transoil changing.

Concerning the cost depends on whether the parts are available. Visit the dealer. Some transmission/drivetrain shops sell parts to people.
If you cannot locate parts, I would believe that you probably cannot rebuild the transmission. There are too many cores ruined by student/backyard mechanics.
I would recommend that you take it to a professional. If you can remove the tranny, it will save on some of the labor costs. Plus, you might get a warranty and can expect that someone with experience will do an excellent job.
There is more to a transmission then just replacing a bad syncro. Clearances/tolerances need to be check and adjusted. Shims/bearings/washers/gears etc might need to be replaced along with other bent/broken parts.
I thought that kdrotary and pineappleracing rebuild transmissions. Visit their website or email them for info.
Read this link along with the manual transmission chapters in the FSM. If you're up to it, go for it and good luck.

I can see why someone would want to try it by themselves. Some places charge way too much.
