IN transmission issue

Finally finished my motor swap in my first rotary. Love the way it drives. Now afar from needing pads rotors and calipers I have a slight problem with my fifth gear. Car pulls and goes through all gears until I put it in fifth. I can have gas pedal to the floor and it slowly slows down. Idk if this is a tranny issue or the fact that I put a full racing beat exhaust which eliminated cats/and the pipe that goes to the smog pump.

the RB midpipe should have a port on it for the backpressure to open up the auxiliary ports. you can also wire them open temporarily to make sure they are working for a test drive to see if the power is the same or better(aux ports not opening properly).

The midpipe I have does not have anything for the backpressure tube.

Maybe your shifting too soon. My na has little power in fifth gear until high speed. If you shift into fifth around 60 forget it. That's for my vert though. I rarely go into fifth until around 70 or so. Then downshift if I need to pass.

if it is an S4 then without that pipe the smog pump can't create enough backpressure alone to open the auxiliary ports. granted this is barely into where they will be making power so it may be other things like old worn spark plugs, dirty fuel filter, dirty injectors, vacuum leaks, worn plug wires, misadjusted TPS or timing out of range.

start by doing a full tune up on the car, if it still is sluggish check the engine's compression.

if that all checks out ok then you may need to see if you can try to borrow a wideband to see if the fuel mixture is off a bit.

Just said this in reply to your other post... >_>

The car should never slow down in 5th unless you're going up hill or only going like 20MPH.

Do as Rotary Evolution suggested and check through everything else and then worry about your 5th/6th ports [do an airpump activation for them]
