Transmission hit the ground when removing and fluid went all over ..... rear seal ???

ok i removed the tranny from my parts car, i am a novice mechanic so i wasnt thinking of the tranny dropping when i pulled it off the driveshaft with the lift

tranny fluid came out all over , looks like the seal in the back was shot from hitting the ground....

would this only cause the seal to break or would this cause internal damage ?

either way im probably going to sell the tranny anyways because that is only a spare...i may keep it tho if its no internal damage and just the seal

You didn't drain the fluid before starting to pull the tranny, I take it?

The rear seal is cheap and easy to install, so replace it anyway...

Unless you're talking about a 4 foot drop onto concrete, I doubt the tranny is hurt...

I cant speak for damage without looking at it. Look for visual damage from impackt. The seal is pressed back there so unless something went into it then it should be fine. Yes when a trany lis lifted up fluid will pore out the rear that is normal.

it only dropped from wherever it was when i was pulling on it to yank it out so it wasnt any higher than where the driveshaft was, upon inspection of the rear seal, yeah it was pretty hemmed up and beat
