fidanza aluminum flywheel needs scattershield?

reading over fidanza's information regarding their flywheels;

it states that the Mazda RX-7 "is capable of much higher RPM then most standard motors. For this reason, the use of a certificed scatter shield for any high performance use is necessary. This is true whether using our aluminum flywheel or the factory steel unit."

efini bought a fidanza flywheel for her 87 n/a. is she gonna need a scatter shield for this ish? we aren't raising the redline or anything fancy. it just seemed like a simple way to get a little more pep out of the n/a. are you guys using scattershields on your stock flywheels doing hpde and autox?

btw ultrarev.com = thumbs down

customer service gets back to you quick, but bottomline it took me 5 weeks to receive this thing; and i didnt have to option of switching to another vendor without cost because they took their sweet time in telling me it wasn't in stock.

they also told her she didn't need a counterweight for her flywheel. wtf? even fidanza says to use the AT rx7 counterweight...

you would probably only need a scatter sheild if you take the motor above 8K, but if you are really concerned, then contact them (fidanza - or the North American Importer) and ask them what the max RPM the flywheel is designed for.

doubtful unless their flywheels are made of cheese, but it is quite possible!

well a ton of honda motors hit 8K all day (like s4 n/a) and S2K's hit 9, as do RX-8's and they don't have scatter shields... I think MOST flywheel manufacturers say you need one if going to or above 10,500RPM. at least I'm pretty sure that's what my ACT street light said.

Most places I've read also say 10,500.
