transmission help ASAP!

So I was shifting from 4th to 3rd and all of a sudden the RPM goes up like I am in neutral. I leave it in gear and coast to a stop and the car doesn't stall. WTF? I shift into gear and accelerate and the speedometer goes up but nothing happens?! The shifter feels normal and the clutch feels normal. I look under the car and don't see anything dangling. What could it be? When I shift into gear and step on the gas I hear some faint grinding noise and the car wont move at all. Any ideas?

inspected your driveshaft connections to both the tranny and the diff? if all is well with the driveshaft then i would say something internally with the tranny went bye-bye.

Check for a broken drive shaft, or you wore the material off the clutch and it needs to be replaced.

where? at one of the u-joints? if its just one of the u-joints itself that broke, you can replace it.. otherwise im afraid youll have to get a whole new shaft.. it is unlikely to bust right in the middle..

maybe i can dig up that thread where that guy was selling replacement u-joints..
