It's been years since I've done mine, but don't remember any problem. With a jack under the engine and trans mount out, lower the engine to get better access.

Here's a couple:

Removing the PP shouldn't be a problem, but the flywheel:
One choice:
All non-turbo flywheels:
49-220NT $22.89
Does NOT Fit Automatic

If you're careful, you can use an air chisel against one corner of the nut (in the loosening direction of course) and it will loosen.

I did this with mine and it came off very easy only leaving a light mark on the nut. A little rub on the bench grinder and the mark was gone.

Another option that I used to torque the nut to 300+ pounds was to chain the flywheel to the block - this was suggested by a retired large equipment mechanic who happened to be there at the time and he said he used to do that kind of thing all the time.

Just make sure your bolt in the flywheel has plenty of thread into it to make sure it doesn't break, bend, or tear thread out.

Did the trick for me.

As for the 5th bolt on the tranny, I just squeezed in with a box end wrench to break it loose and then used a ratchet box end to spin it out.

Flywheel stop tool from MAZDATRIX works.

Make sure to replace the Rear Main Seal while you have the flywheel out, and also dont lose the flywheel KEY!
