Transmission fluid leaking

I have a 91 automatic transmission. It started leaking fluid today. It is leaking a bit from the pan, but I notice drips from the torque converter cover. I am hoping it is just a blown gasket and that replacing that will fix this. Is this what it is? Please help.

The only way to really tell where a leak is coming from if it is all dirty is to clean it all off, take it for a quick drive, return and see whats wet...

If not the gasket, what else might it be? Just ball park. Thanks.

Honestly I have no idea, I've never played with a RWD auto.

But that is how I found a leak on my manual tranny.

On a side note, I have played with a FWD tranny in of all things a '00 Elantra. It turns out that the pan gasket in the auto transmission had failed, and there was a fluid loss in that area around the gasket...pretty obvious. Replacing the gasket and torquing the bolts down to spec fixed the issue.

Check the fluid lines. Mine was leaking because one line was missing a washer.OR it could just be a pan gasket.

Or your transmission could be taking a dump on you, which was the case with mine.

Aww, man, ronin you really know how to raise a guys spirits. I will replace the pan gasket and filter and see if that fixes the problem.

When yours went out on you, did you hear or feel anything? A lurch or pop as the transmission dumped on you? Thanks.
