Transmission Fluid coming out!! help please!!

Hi, I recently installed my Short throw shifter in my 90 n/a(about 2 weeks ago but dont drive th car much) and today since i ordered a new boot...i was driving the car earlier today and after looking at the shifter and noticed a wet spot soo i investigated further and it was coming from the top part of the shifter inner boot which is bolted on to the car...its seeping out from the tip. is this normal? wont that fluid heat up and melt stuff? is it safe? did i do something wrong? did i forget to do something? help please would be greatly appreciated.

Is it overfilled, if not then that means it's getting pretty damn hot in there (notice any extra heat in that area?) and starting to boil up. Hopefully it's just overfilled.

I think this is why Mazda does NOT fill the tail section from the factory.
I don't think the trans fluid will get hot enough to melt the rubber.&nbsp If it does, you have other BIGGER issues.

You can pop the shifter level off and then "sponge" some of the excess fluid with a rag or equivalent.

I don't think that the transmission is overfilled.
After I replaced all my boots, all leaks/smells disappeared.
You are replacing all the boots, right? Inner, outer, middle, whatever?

Concerning overfilled, did you change the gearoil lately or did this problem just occur with the new shifter install? Or did you use too much oil to lube the new shifter?

There is also a TSB mentioned in this thread:
