I need some advice guys I have the opportunity to buy a 1985 RX-7. Now I know that this it the 2nd gen forum but I agree with most of your oppinions so I'd rather ask you guys than people I havent discussed any thing with. The car is in good mechanical health as far as I can tell she runs smoother than my 87 sport and has less miles on the clock to boot. But she has been in a crash before but not really bad and its mostly fixed I affered the guy a thousand for it and he said ok but I want to do my homework before I give hime that much for it. Thanx for any feedback you all give.

 

if it doesnt have frame or other hidden mechanical problems..go for it, use it as ur beater

It did not have any emblems and i dont know how to distinguish between models on first gens I am asuming it the base model and i am prety sure it has a 12A .

 

are there any general things i should check and if so what are they.

 

Check for rust, thats a biggie.
