did you ask for help at autozone?

they obviously have gear oil for manual trans, if they said they didn't then my opinion of them sinks even lower.

You must of not been looking hard enough for the fluid because every auto parts store should have redline fluids or royal purple etc. Go with redline tranny fluid, you can put that in your diff as well. 2.6qts for manual tranny, and diff 1.3qts.

You must have a TII trans and an N/A Diff.

For the amount of fluid you will need, check the FSM.

it's 3 quarts (it's really 2.5 for the tranny) and it's another 2 quarts for the diff (if ur car is turbo)

oh btw My Mechanic friend (more like master) aka owner of B&B Racing in Sacramento, CA told me to use Mobil 75W90 on my tranny and my diff

^ Mobil 1 synthetic is not that great in our trans.

Go for generic regular oil or redline/neo synthetics.

^ 2.6qts is TII trans, 1.3 is N/A Diff sizes

I don't mean motor oil, I mean any brand 75w-90 is fine in the trans and diff, but if you go synthetic do not get mobil1.

I have run 'Coastal' 75w90 in my trans for years with no problem.

Avoid tranny oils that contain sulphur. It makes the oil tougher but also eats through the synchros, making them wear out much faster. For the differential you need an oil that works with LSD's, or an LSD additive added to a regular differential oil. Though some people say your LSD is too old to work anyway.

Overall, Royal Purple or Neo are the bomb for trannies and diffs. For performance purposes only, Redline is great too. For Neo you use the same stuff in both the tranny and diff. For Royal Purple you use synchromax in the tranny and maxgear in the diff. For Redline I don't remember, check their website or search these forums.

I actually did finally find a place that sells Redline, the service guy said to use redline MTL or the royalpurple stuff. but to use something else in the Diff.

How hard is it to drain and fill the service guy said he thought I'd need a grease gun to get it in?Also I would have to use a 2 ton jack with no jack stands as well do you think its safe?

There is a thread that shows MANY different types of lubes that have been tested our transmissions, and how well they have done.

Learned that the hard way, back when i had a two forty i jacked it up just to look under it "real quickly" and it had started to roll forward onto me. Anything can happen people always make mistakes, its in our human dna. There is no perfect person. Jackstands save lives.
