Transmission Fill neck?

Is there something Out there that can Bolt Into the side of the Transmission Like a Dipstick, so I don’t need to go Under the car to check lvl’s and Fill it
If so where can I get one of these Nifty time savers?

To my knowledge no manual transmission vehicles have dipsticks. You simply check at the highest fill plug. It's a PIA but it's just how it is.

I beleive that because the transmissions in FWD cars are more accesible, that's why it has a dipstick.

Although...

Are you sure you wern't checking your oil??

The transmission is impossible to fill if you're just using the gear oil bottle with the filler nipple. I ended up finding a length of hose and duct taping the nipple off to the end. Then I just routed the hose down through the engine bay and put the nipple in the filler hole, worked like a charm.

then pay someone to do it, the transmission only needs to get serviced every 30k miles unless you are really abusing it or unless you have a transmission leak which should probably be fixed anyways.

there is no way to get a dipstick on these transmissions and no easy way to fill it without getting under the car.

You can get plastic pumps made for car lubricants for about $10, works like a charm, is much less work than sqeezing the bottle, and is much faster.

The way I ended up doing my rear differential and transmission was by using an oiling can. Basically it's just a can you put oil into and has a long metal neck that can swivel in different directions and when you pull the lever, it shoots the fluid wherever you have the end pointed. It took a little longer to do, but it didn't make a mess and worked perfectly.

+1 I thought this was the obvious way of doing it.

me too. go to walmart, buy some "Rhino Ramps"

BEST $35 I ever spent on my car. just drive on and block the wheels. I hate finding ways to SAFELY jack up my car because my driveway is at an angle and jackstands rip them up every time.

Now, .... Im guessing my dad did it wrong but this is how he did it. And explain to me why its wrong please so I can go make fun of him. There is the drain valve on the bottom right? And the check valve in the middle and the fill plug on the top.

He (talking while doing it) said that he should do it like this
1. make sure the check plug and fill plug cant be opened.
2. take out drain plug and drain old tranny fluid.
3. put drain plug back in
4. take out check plug
5. put new tranny fluid in check plug hole till when you put some in it comes out the check plug hole.
6. put back the check plug.
7. Your done.

For some reason .. I dont think that is right. ... or else why would they have a filling hole on the top.... He said the check plug is where you are supposed to fill it so as long as you get it up to the check plug hole your fine. Im starting to think that he was just lazy and didnt want to do it right. Is he right?

Thanks.

That's absolutely correct. Fill to the bottom of the check plug hole.
