Transmission backup light connecter
Transmission backup light connecter
Well after installing my transmission and such. I realized my plug on the transmission with 4 wires that control the backup and 5th gear thing or something to that point has gone missing. It might be at my dads shop but i wont be able to check there untill tomorrow or thursday. What does that connecter do really? and will i be able to drive the car without that connecter ?
5spd has two sensors
1) 5th grear
2) Reverse light
Both have one feed wire, and one lead. I can't remember the colors, but since its just a natural switch, you could put power to one of the feeds and check the leads for which one has power while in reverse.
The reverse gear sensor, obviosuly, activates the pimp reverse lights.
The 5th gear switch tells the ECU that its a go for closed loop, which can snag you an extra 3-7 mpg on the highway.
