Someones selling a t2 transmission near me for <$250..... look for a used one (NA of course). There are lots of them around... just did a quick search on craigslist and there are complete FCs going for <$1,000

What failed in yours? I have never had a bad FC transmission... I have replaced shift forks.. but never had gears crap out.

I wouldn't recommend rebuilding it yourself, but if you look in the FSM under transmission I believe it gives a complete breakdown. Yep, its a complete breakdown of everything you need and the tools.

I would recommend getting a used one off the forum or criagslist.

Ah, well in that case I would say you may wanna give the gasket replacement a try perhaps. Just make sure to use a silicone gasket maker with it.

Hell dude, replacing the silicone gasket in the trans is EASY. Taking the whole thing apart though... that requires some SPECIAL tools. I have a 2-foot deep socket that's 1-5/8". I also made a bearing puller from crap I had laying around, but you'd need a welder and some sort of cutting device. I'm pretty experienced at rebuilding transmissions, and it's pretty much not worth it for a DIY'er to rebuild the NA FC trans.

Just unbolt the long bolts around the case near the back and slip the sections apart, clean the silicone off, re-apply silicone, reassemble, and let it cure for a day before putting oil in it again.
