trans input shaft/seal

hello all,

looks like tommorrow im going to replace my manual trans input shaft and seal on my 88 turbo. Ive got it ready to go and wonder if theres anything special I might need to know- meaning if someone has done this before and has some valuable advice, something odd to look out for etc ???

It seems just to be a few bolts to remove the shaft { I can get in my engine bay, engine is out, bellhousing is open} and then HOPEFULLY the seal prys out easily, then rubber mallet the new one in. I will drain the trans oil first, and refill.

would a guy need to lube the seal a little? oil/vaseline,etc? or just tap it in?

the fsm and guides give the classic one-liner "install new seal"

any info is appreciated.

I was changing my clutch today, well not really i spent 3 hours trying to get teh flywheel off and it still aint moved, even with a puller. Anyway my seal came pre greased on the driveshaft side. i put a little more on and then just used the back of a large socket to press it in.
