hey guys i bought a trans from a guy on the forum, and it doesnt have 5th or reverse. when we got the trans in the mail, it was stuck on the 3rd 4th shaft so we opened it up and got all the gears and neutral to work. the only problem is now it seems we cant access the 5th/reverse shaft.

has anyone had a problem with not being able to get 5th or reverse? all the other gears and neutral work

 

Well, 5th and reverse are on the same linkage so it would make sense that they would both go out together.

What could you see when you opened it up. Shouldn't you be able to see what the problem is when you try shifting when it is opened up?

 

all of the shift forks were lined up in the middle so it looked ok. its just like it wont even try to go into 5th or reverse.

 

are the wires connected?

someone else had this problem too... i forgot what happend.
