tranny whines when cold

A search didn't pop up anything for this.. Sometimes, when *REALLY* cold (starting up in the morning), the transmission makes a funny whine around 1800 rpm's.. I usually let the car warm up for a few minutes before driving, so I usually don't hear it.. It only lasts for a minute or two when it's really cold.. whassup? 5-speed n/a.

Well if it's not in gear then I'd think it would be the flywheel not getting oil or something similar.

ALL these transmissions should be running Redline MT90 or something similar...

This should eliminate this problem.

Lightbulb Noise when starting cold

Make sure the cat didn't fall asleep in your engine bay before you start it up.

Seriously, check to see if your tranny oil is full. But, question, are you sure it's coming from the tranny?

HOZZMAN....The kitten did indeed fall asleep in my wifes engine bay a couple of years ago. Traumatized the wife. Guess who got to clean up kitten guts out of the engine bay. Yuck. Sorry to butt in with that remark Tesla. Yeah they do whine in cold weather. I need to try some of that synthetic oil also to quite it down and prolong the life of the transmission.

Synthetic is gearbox gold. I'll have to fill mine with Redline MT-90 soon, 2nd gear syncro is getting a little rough
