tranny update

alrite, i drove her home about half an hour ago..but damn, i hate having her be in someone elses hands and not being able to drive...but heres the thing..i declined the repair on the driveshaft, but they repaired the shift housing seals...no more smell =)

well, i was driving home..and HOLY **** its sooooooo slow....... please tell me there is a direct relationship between broken U-joints and a broken yoke, and slipping....i KNOW its the main thing that connects to the wheels to get u going..so if its just the fact that the yoke is broken is slipping me out of power, then i'll be relieved...

btw, lately she has been feeling a bit slower....maybe i know why now..i thought it was the engine...cuz i filled the resevoir instead of hte water pump thingy w/ coolant..god im an idiot..(it WAS 1:00am..i was tired......)

Re: tranny update

So it was just the shifter bushings? I hate to tell you this, but those are incredibly easy to replace. What did they charge?

I don't think that the broken U-joint is going to slow your car down much. You shouldn't drive it anymore, though, because it may total your car if it lets loose.

way too much...

Not the shift bushings, because if they charged me the money they did for that, i would be incredibly pissed off. i replaced them a few days ago along w/ the inner boot. what im talking about is the shift seals on the tranny itself (outside). seems as though they were leaking out onto the exhaust, causing the white smoke.

i learned the hard way. they charged about 40 bux for parts and 120 for labor!! (2 hr) I know i got ripped, but they wanted 890 bux total and i told them they could shove that right up their asses, got my car back, and now its sittin in the driveway till it gets driven to a reputable auto-mechanic who doesnt work in an overpriced 'pay for the name' store. the total was 250 bux (60 bux labor for them to remove the shaft, but since i said hell no about replacing it, they put it back on minus the labor of taking it off.) never again will i take it to Aamco, i can find other places around here that'll do rebuilds for fraction of the price and actually *watch* them goof off wasting my money.
