Tranny removal help

I have my ’88 vert on jack stands, have everything disconnected from the tranny, the bolts are out, the mount is off and the and tranny is supported on a floor jack. It has moved back some but it looks like the top of the tranny where the shifter goes in is hanging up on the bottom of the tunnel. I do not want to force it and run the risk of it falling. I am looking for any suggestions on the best way to move the transmission back and out from under the car.

Also, does anyone know about how much the transmission weighs?

I searche and saw the suggestion to jack the front of the engine up, but are there any other thoughts? Thanks for any help.

Pull up your skirt, get under the trans with your hands on the bell housing and feet on the tail shaft and pull that thing out.

Support the engine with a floor jack and lower it slightly to remove the trans. I guess I became weak in my old age as I had my son help me with the TII trans. I think it's pretty heavy for one person.
Someone once said the trans weighs around 100lbs, but can't guarantee that figure.

Not that its the same thing, but after dropping a TH400 on my hand and breaking 2 of my fingers, I would not attempt it on my own. But that just me, I have been raped by a turbo 400.

getting the Engine to lean Upwards is always Key in removing and installing the Transmission...I hope you have Removed the shifter from the Transmission also.If you Know that all bolts are removed and it won't come apart..Lay back to the side of the transmission and give it a good Boot to the tail stock..another way is to get it raised a touch so that you create a crack in between the Engine and trans, then put a Bar in there then Pull down on the trans,.it Pops right off.

haha. ya nice..
I just pulled my trans out this morning(2nd time in less than 1 month) .. I use a ratcheting tie down and use that to angle the back ot the engine down. Put jack under neath flat part of trans and then wiggling the back tail shaft will seperate it from the engine, use a pry bar and pop it out..

Thanks all. My son helped and the tranny is out. It was hanging up on the front converter. Thought I could get it out withour removing that one. We also removed the front cross-member. Should be easier to get back in that way. The pilot bearing was toast.
