Tranny questions..

I hope this question is not going to cost me alot of money. But anyway.. once in a while I can not get the car into first gear on the first attempt. I try to but it will not go in. But then if I let out the clutch, (followed by a werid noise) and put it in again, I can put the car in 1st gear no problem. She only does this about 40% of the time. What's wrong??

syncros most likely. Eventually they all need a little minor trans work.

I disagree, I'd say more likely it's the pilot bearing. Syncro, IMHO, would be more if he got grinding on an up/downshift, not just getting the car into gear.

Still gotta drop the tranny to change it though.

I'd start by changing to synthetic gear oil. How many pieces of gears & syncros were in the old oil?
