I am having a hard time getting my car in 2nd gear, and when it starts up it has a whinny sound out of the trans, any ideas? Thanks

 

Trouble shifting from first to second? Will it go in gear at all? Grinds?? If the engine is not running...will it go in gear?

Are you sure the whinning is coming from the tranny... Throw-out-bearing??

First three things that come to mind are....

1.)Clutch
2.)Throw-out-bearing
3.)Someone has been jamming 2nd gear racing and the sincro's (spelling) are shot-
