Talking Tranny Question?

1. is it a pian to install a new Clutch/Pressure Plate/and Bearing without completely removing the tranny.

2. Are there any other trannys with better gears that will bolt up.

I have noticed that 1st and 2nd blow.....but when you hit 3rd, hold on.

1. It will be next to impossible to remove the clutch assembly without removing the transmission.

2. Do a search on the Miata. I vaguely remember hearing that the tranny bolts up, or that you may be able to put a RX-7 tranny bellhousing on a Miata tranny. I'm not sure what the gear ratios are though.

turbo or n/a? i did a clutch job in my turbo 7, there is no question about it....you have to remove the transmission unless you remove the engine. if it is a n/a rx7 i think it would be pretty easy to do, but my turbo rx7 with the stock downpipe is kinda tough, the downpipe got in my way alot and it looked pretty freakin hard to remove. i would strongly suggest someone to help you remove the transmission, if it is turbo than the trans. should be aluminum which is light enough to lift and navigate it's input shaft into the pilot bearing.
miata gears can be put in rx7 trans. (thats what i read). but a shorter ring gear should do you straight, i sometimes find 1st and 2nd gear kinda short, because the car spins tires really easy
