tranny probs or clutch? my car hates me.

so for the last day or so my clutch or tranny is all wierd, i dont know which one to blame.

sometimes if i have the clutch depressed for a while it wont come all the way back up unless i pump it once, and it seems to slip (shudder too) alot more off the line. also when i get going at about 2.5k rpm i get a wierd shake that i can feel in the steering wheel and shifter coupled with a very low lowwwww pitched noise (like subwoofer low) like wubwubwubwubwubwub..

but if i let off the gas or give it more gas it goes away.. doesn't matter how fast im going, its just in that rpm range.. wierd.

i just changed the tranny fluid to the stuff the dealer gave me a month ago btw.

the fluid that came out looked well used but alright, not frothy or metallic or anything.

so im guessing this is just time for a new clutch kit right??

i don't have a ton of money and the car is pretty much stock and prolly going to stay that way for a while soo.... any recommendations on a good all inclusive clutch kit that ill be able to put in myself?

thanks in advance

sounds like a clutch problem, and even if it is your tranny it isnt hard to replace. Sounds like a clutch problem or clutch related like if pumping it is a problem then either your master cylinder is bad, like it would have a leak or something, check the hose as well, i ended up replacing a clutch when all i had was a bad hose once. Also check the slave. I dont know exactly how to check these other than to replace them. It could also be your throwout bearing. I had a problem with mine that when i had the car in gear but my foot on the clutch it seemed to grab a bit but i didnt have any hydraulic issue. Come to find out when i pulled the tranny my throwout bearing had a broken bracket
for the release fork on one side which is fugged. So point being I wouldnt be scared, it isnt anything major and for sure sounds hydraulic or something in the bell housing, nothing that has to do with tranny internals. If I were you and I had a few hundred dollars to spend and a haynes manual and you are a little bit mechanically inclined then I would by the exedy clutch kit, a new clutch master and slave cylinder as well as hose and a throw out bearing. Replace all of this. This means pulling your tranny back but no biggie. Maybe someone here knows better. Either way, as long as you are mechanically inclined and not scared of your car you will be alright.

no im not scurrrrd

this is the first car ive ever worked on but i love it. i've had alot of fun fixing it myself, it's cheaper too. i also love this forum so much great information. I do have a haynes manual tho, couldn't live w/o it. ill take a look at that clutch kit for sure and ill see if i can find any leaks and bleed the clutch lines as well, mebe not tonight.. but soon.
