It is most likely bearing noise. How many miles are on the tranny, and how do you drive the car?

I dont Drive the Car Hard... I have only Been Driving the Car like 3 days. i bought the car like 3 months a ago and it was At my Grandparents Sitting. I Dove it from Brandon FL to pompano Beach FL. That was the hardest i Ever Drove it. after that It sat in a Diveway Covered. Im Not Sure about how It was Driven before me. but He did warn Me about the Hum From that Back and that he thought it Needs A Rearend. Well i went to a Freinds today and on the Way home I was a a Light and Start to Excell as i got past a 20mph Roll I got a nasty Sandpapper Noise comming From the Tranny/shifter Area. I Drove it really slow at a Low rpm And it is Parked now i Took off the Boot and Shifter Looking for anything that may be a Problem. But in the Mannual. it says maybe Bearing, Fuild and what not.

Change the tranny fluid, and flush it with some thin oil to try and get any metal shavings out. I would fill it with a high grade gear oil like Redline MT90 or a Synchromesh. See if that helps any.

i would check the bolt on the front pulley. I just had a problem very similar with my car. I took a long trip with my 7 and over time the bolt on the front pulley came loose, and now my thrust bearing has slipped out of place. Make sure that is very tight. Does it make the sound only with the clutch is engaged ?? or is it also making the sound without the clutch engaged.

It makes this Noise When the car is in motion Regardless to the Clutch Pushed in or out also makes the Nosie when in neutral. Beacuse when i was Driving i tryed to wiggle the Siffter around to See if i could stop the noise. My Siffter is Very loose needs Bushing i think

well last night i Changed all the Fluid out and Noticed that when i took off the plate to the Shifter and drove the car around alittle bit that it doesnt seem to be inside the tranny as much as it Does seem to be comming from under the shifter and axle Area. Maybe its inside the Shifter Box. I guess my Best Bet to To take my entire Tranny Apart and what not. but for now the car will have to Sit

yah mine was doing the exact same thing. i wouldnt leave it like that and keep driving with that whirring noise. The noise will get stronger and eventually there will be a big crack and then there will be a constant loud knocking noise, and you wont be able to drive your car right.. Same thing happened to me. I ended up replacing the following on my car, and it didnt fix anything. I replaced the whole transmission with one i know to be good, i replaced the clutch, inspected all the bearings, new plugs, redline tranny fluid. still i have the problem. Everyone figures that its becuase there is to much end play in my ecentric shaft because of a possible pooched thrust bearing. that would explain why the noise is coming from the tranny area for you. It could be the flywheel etc making contact with the tranny. Nonetheless if you figure it out, let me know.

yah my engine only has about 38,000 Km on it, and we did the rebuild ourselves. The engine has been taken care of the entire time. just to be safe id reccomennd checking your eshaft end play. It only takes a minute and will save you a lot of headache down the road.

Im pretty Sure my noise is Comming From the rearend of the Tranny Near the Shifter right before the propeller shaft. i will Know with in the Next to nexts. i Dont have the Time to Take a Look at it Now but Hopefully on my Free Time i will be able to Drop the Tranny and GIve it a Better Look.

What i did is Take off the rubber and plate Where the Sifter is and Then put the shifter back together, With out the rubber or Metal plate so i have a Clear View and can Hear the Tanny while I take it For a Drive Around where i live. and this is what i came up with.
