tranny noise

My transmission is making noise, especially when cold. I already changed the fluid to penzoil 75W90, but it didn't help, it just shifts a little bit smoother now. I was thinking of going to redline fluid because it's synthetic and is supposed to make the tranny shift really well, but I've heard some bad things.
Some people have had bad experiences with it, like going through 4 trannies in a year and stuff. Has anyone had bad experiences with redline? I would put it in but I have no money to buy a new tranny and I really don't want to ruin my GTUs transmission.

I actually jsut had a conversation about this today. Cuz my tranny is grinding in 2nd and 3rd, one guy suggested royal purple which you can get through nopistons.com and another guy said he used redline and it helped a lot. He said it worked well for his car and had no complaints.

how long has he been using the redline though? If someone has used redline for like 2+ years without any problems then I'll be convinced that it is safe.

I just put synthetic in tranny and rear end this weekend. I can't say it feels any better, it seems a little notchier than before but I only drove it around the block.

Can't tell if mine was ever even changed before, had some shavings on the magnetic plug and rear end had yellow paint circles on the plugs and a bitch to get off.

Redline for over 2 years.
My tranny has 133k miles on it. No grinding into any gear even at 7000 rpm (ok, maybe first to second ).

Its good ****!

I've used Redline since new May '89 TII. Great help in cold weather. Trans needed rebuild @ 88,000 miles. Needed syncros, slight grinding. Had done under extended warranty. Again @ 155,000 miles, when engine done. Syncros (just a slight noise) and 1 bearing. Just wanted everything done at once. Figured it would be needed in the near future.
