tranny help / swap

i bought an 86 n/a 13b auto that had been sitting for 5 years. replaced the coils and it fired right up. The problem is i can start it and drive it fine sometimes and sometimes it drives fine then looses all gears. shut it off wait a min and then they are all back for a min. i changed fluid/filter and flushed the valve body, didnt fix it. anyone have any ideas?

also have a 87 n/a 13b with a 5 speed thats totaled but good motor and trans. what all do i have to do to swap the transmission? i need to get the auto working till i can get time for the swap. all the help will be apprieciated.

p.s. this is my first rx-7 so i know very little.

if that auto tranny had a lot of miles on it, you might have ruined it.

swapping requires a welder. grab the clutch peddal and anything attached to it out of the other can and then yank the trans, master and slave cylindersand i believe your flywheel also. then you need to cut and weld in your clutch pedal and hook everything up also i believe you need to swap the ECU for a 5 speed ECU. this is a rough run down of the swap hope its kinda helpfull.
