tranny help...no reverse...

I sold a tranny to another member here and he's having problems with it...seems he can't get the tranny to go into reverse. Back in the car it came from (not run for a while) when it ran I had no reverse problems...and when I pulled it the oil inside was still clear...no metal or anything.

When trying to go into reverse now it's like hitting a wall...no grinding or noise...the shifter just stops. It goes into 5th fine, it seems, which is kinna odd to me beings 5th and reverse are on the same line...does anyone have any ideas?

Same prob with my vert i think. I have to push more to the passenger side while putting it into reverse. It is kinda weird. Hope that helps.

try shifting through 1st, then to 2nd, then to reverse several times. sometimes it's a little tough to get the schtick to move far enough to get reverse. tell him not to force it though, just work with it until it goes. kinda like a woman.

Check for any debris below the shifter boot.
