Traany fluid seeping from shifter turret

this is getting weird and annyoing, and stinky, i have new shifter bushings in the tranny, it shifts fairly well (5th grinds a tad bit every once in a while though) trans fluid is laking from the turrent and seeping up through the new gaskets into the cabin and dripping down onto the cats making a wonderful smell and sometimes smoke >_>, anyone else deal with this bull$h!t before?

Yep. I use grease in the shifter area to prevent this.

I've noticed it after I changed my bushings/trans fluid. I did not put grease in the turret, i assume this is why, also my rubber boots are shot to **** as well.

Mine's been seeping slowly too, but the trans has 190k on it.

Once it's all run out, I'll throw some wheel bearing grease in there. Great idea.

It's not draining the trans. Seperate housings... plus the shifter is higher up.

The tranny and shifter housing are separate. You can't drain the tranny if the shifter housing is leaking. The shifter housing is probably just spilling over the top because the bottom boot is damaged.

There are 3 rubber boots... if your're leaking oil, the bottom one is shot. The bottom boot is the one attached to the metal ring with the three screws. You'll need a new one.

Mazdatrix sometimes has deals where you can get all 3 boots and the shifter bushings.

Because the gasket won't fix it if it's not leaking from the top... andhow is grease "rigging it"? It works and doesn't hurt a thing.
