TPS question 89 TII
TPS question 89 TII
hey all, so I have maybe a not so unusual TPS question.
ive had my motor rebuilt 2 years ago and the idle still bounces at 1500. vacuum hoses were done, new gaskets were new. so i am thinking that it comes down to two things.
1) TPS - my builder told me that my car didn't have the green check plug for the TPS. Can't I adjust it via a DMM?
2) injectors - secondaries have been replaced with brand new 75lb ones but the primaries may still be the stock 22 year old 550s. before the engine was rebuilt I did premix and the car sat for some time. Could that contribute to the 'bounce' as well as horrendous gas mileage.
3) If the TPS off another RX7 is calibrated to the proper spec would I be able take it off that 7 and plug it into mine without need for calibration?
here's a rundown of the car
1989 TII w/ rebuilt JDM motor w/ large streetport.
custom TID w/ HKS, MAF angled.
75lb secondaries
walbro pump, NOT rewired
rats nest gone
N370 ECU w/ Rtek 1.7

With the car fully warmed up all you need to do is focus on the Green/Red wire in the TPS plug and take a voltage reading from that wire and use the TPS adjustment screw to adjust the voltage reading to one volt DC.
No, you cannot adjust the TPS on another car and hook it up to yours without calibration.
Not a difficult process as Satch explained. Us TMIC guys have it a bit harder than others, but it's still easy.
