TPS Question

My car, an 87 Turbo II, has been having some problems lately and I think it is a result of the throttle positioning sensor going bad. I have been looking through the workshop manual and I didn't see anything on how to actually check if it is bad and or to find out if it needs to be replaced. If anyone know how to do so, let me know and I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
