TPS help
my 86 NA is giving me trouble, while in idle or in any rpm the car slows down or speeds up. also it has begun to smoke alot, at first white at startup, then blue, which i know means oil, above 5 rpm it starts to make insane amounts of smoke, completely fills the sky. i want to know if its my tps and how much it could cost to fix. or if its another problem completely. please help

Im no expert but I would definetely say I dont think its TPS. My friends TPS sensor was out of wack completey and the worst thing the car did was have a crazy surging idle and would kind of shake up top.
I think everything you described might mean internal engine problems. But the easiest way to take the TPS sensor out of the equation is to check the ohms. FC3spro.com has a great guide with pics on how to do it , all you need is a multimeter. Also you can stop by any Radioshack and use theres if you dont have one and thus wont need to shell out money for one.
BTW the reading should be 1 ohm at idle and I think 5.5 to 6.5 at WOT. You can also adjust it if its out of wack a little bit.
Hope that helps.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm no.If you are getting white smoke. Smell it. If its sweet then your coolant seals are gone. If its blue then its either oil or its running rich. If the temp is diff then that could be why since slight contractions and expansions of the rotors is likely to occur which could be why it acts differently in diff. temps.
