TPS differences 88-90 n/a, junkyard question.
Ok, I go to the "junk" yard religiously, and finally hit the jackpot, sort of. I found 5, yes, 5 new to the yard, RX7's. It was sad day, but my dream day also. Regarding the TPS, I have a 90 FC3C, n/a, and my TPS has two rollers, where the RX 's I looked at only had one. It appeared to me, that all of the throttle parts were identical, except that they had mechanical OMP, where mine is electrical. Is that the reasoning?
Thanks for the help, and I got parts coming out of my ears from my "LUCKY" day.

OK , White, could you please expand on that answer a bit more for me, please? Also, I have read so many posts on TPS adjustments, why does most everyone state that engine must be warm to perform test, and the Haynes manual does not state that? On lots of other tests, and adjustments, its specific about engine warm up.
THANKS

The S4 ones read full throttle somewhere around half pedal, while the S5 ones do not. I'd imagine that if you put an S4 TPS on an S5 car, your OMP would inject more oil than necessary. I'm not sure that the S4 TPS would even plug into the S5 harness, or be compatable with the S5 ECU. I don't know for sure because I haven't worked extensively on an S5 car yet.

ah, man...White87FC it sounds like you have not even looked at a S5
The S5 uses two TP Sensors for the throttle positions to the ECU. One TPS is identical to a S4, the other uses a slightly different range.
So if you need a TPS for a S5 car, you need the S5 dual TPS. Even the part of the S5 that uses the same range as the S4, doesn't use the same plug.
As far as the MOP, the S4 models use a linkage and mechanical MOP. The two throttle bodies are not interchangeable without modification.
And finally the engine must be warm, when testing the TPS, because the electrical resistance changes from warm to cold (as all electrical circuits do).

Thanks Ice, but why doesn't the service manual specify temperature with adjustment of TPS, like it does with other things? I'm not questioning you're knowledge, just stating a fact.
