TPS adjustment...for the 9000th time

so let me know if im doing all this right. this is for an s5 by the way. i have an ohmmeter and i put it on the omega sign with the 20 by it. -------------- so i put the two tongs into the A and B
| E | C | A |
----------------
| F | D | B |
----------------
and adjust to .8-1.2 closed and 4-6 at WOT. then move the tongs to E and D at .6-.9 / 3.4-5.1. and which side of the harness would be the top? the side with the clip? let me know if im missing any steps.
and also to check codes dont i ground the single wire harness by the battery to the frame and count the blinks of the check engine light?

Download the Series five FSM. Download just the Fuel section. Look in the Control Unit part of the Fuel section at page FI-83.

Yes. The two far right are the narrow range and you put one lead in each location and read the meter in Ohms (omega sign).

Then go to the upper left with one probe and the bottom center for the other probe. That is the Full Range.

The readings will be in Kohms.

According to the 89FSM you look at the reading with the tps fully closed then fully open. Different readings for closed and open. The TPS readings should fall within those figures given in the FSM.

The manual says to not to adjust the tps at this time. It, the FSM explains there is a tps auto-adjust system in the ECU.

Then it tells you to get the two LEDS assy and then adjust the tps if the lights are not as explained in the FSM.

Page FI-83, online, free download. See FAQ if you don't know where to download the FSM.

The top of the plug is where there is a *nub* for locking the two halves of the connectors together when you mate them.

I'd take a look at the A/B, E/D figures for closed and full throttle, and if they fall within the specs of the FSM, then I'd connect the lights up and adjust per the fsm. It's on the same page I quoted in the other post.

You're setting it fine.

The only other thing is to watch the Ohms value sweep as you work the TPS plunger in and out.
Look for bad spots or drop outs on the sweep of values.
