Towing with a FC?
I'm not talking about towing large objects, but my parents have a small trailer that could be useful for towing things like building materials or a *cough* blown 13b to rebuild and the only vehicles we have are a 96 Civic LX, and I'm planning on getting a NA FC when we get moved into our new house.
Do rotories put up with light towing, and can a reciever be installed pretty painlessly and without looking goofy?
Thanks for the advice.

I've pulled NACRA 18 Squares 900 miles, same with NACRA 5.2'S, and have a small utility trailer I've hauled 8 , 8 foot sections of wooden fence on that trailer, and a 26ft rowing scull, plus numerous 900 mile trips with windsurf/kayaks/ canoes. And I have the original transmission and rearend.
Now where is that little smiley with the tongue sticking out....oh, there it is

Did I mention that was with the a/c running??

lol, really? That kinda sucks, but would be enough for some 2x4s and stuff. I think I might just have to buy a beater truck. I doubt my wife's Civic can pull any more then that.

There are hitches available for the car (google) but neither of the receiver-style ones are available anymore. So you need to plan on having that ball sticking there on the back bumper unless you want to get your ball off
when you're done.
I tow my tire trailer to autoX events but it's under that 500# limit anyway.
Actually, I think that the owner's manual says not to tow anything at all...

Hehe, thanks for the input guys. I think I'm just going to buy a crappy beater truck. My buddy just picked up a 75 Ford pickup for $150 that actually runs decently, but only gets ~10mpg. Works great for towing his boat.

I guess I was hoping I could tow an engine or another FC home if I wanted a parts car, or a 13b to rebuild and stick in the garage for when the need arises.
FWIW,
You CAN fit 4 tires, cooler, chair, air tank, tool bag, and other related gack in the RX-7. It's just easier if that other stuff is already on your trailer.
I wouldn't worry about towing another engine home but, unlike Higgi, I wouldn't tow another car.

I tow a 4x8 trailer with my Harley every other weekend.
I also towed my sons Broken Hunda... Also known as
FRIED RICE
He really didn't care for that name, but many of his ricer buddies laughed about it...
I have also towed 2 first gens with it....
Take off I take it easy and don't worry about acceleration, But damn if she don't eat the gas when I run at 80 with the Hog on the back... Like 9 MPG and I was hanging around 0 boost/vacuum at that speed due to load... friggin 11/1 air fuel was sucking the juice
Biggest thing I can see with towing is the brakes can get quite hot as can the clutch if you get caught in the city

That would certainly make my life easier if I have to pick up a FC out of state. I kinda thought about that route, because I know they rent small trucks, and $20 a day isn't terrible, but the gas is going to be murder, and I'm sure the milage will be nuts.
To be fair, if you're looking at picking up a car from out of state, you may want to see about a car shipping system, they only cost a few hundred dollars for local states I guess..

Alot of people don't seem willing to ship either. It must be a tremendous pain in the *** or something.
