Towing with an fc
I'm trying to pick up a beat ae86, but my only car is an tII. previous owner already put on a tow hitch, so i'm debating trying to to the ae86 the 250 or so miles home on a car dolly. the corolla will probably be a little over 2k lbs, with little to no tongue wieght on the hitch. i have none of the documentation on the hitch, but is there any chance this could work without wrecking my car?

bad idea.
Mazda doesn't recomend towing with the RX-7 at all. Of course, most people can safely tow a tire trailer or possibly a jet-ski or motorcycle but a car plus a heavy trailer is a different story.
Look at how the hitch you have is attached and see if you still want to risk it.
Rent a U-Haul pick-up for $20/day and go get the car.

They won't tell you this, but I'm pretty sure they are required to rent to you if you pay an extra insurance charge because you are under 25. I think there was a lawsuit about this a while ago, an under 25 year old was denied because of insurance and he said "let me pay the extra insurance and rent the car then" and they wouldn't so he sued.

I don't think a car's frame is built to tow other cars. you might risk bending you body or what ever the hitch is connected to, plus that is alot of stress on you drivetrain to to be pulling something that heavy? anyways look in the manual it will tell you how much you can tow but I doubt it's anymore than 1000lb

Opinions are like........
Absolutely do not tow 2000+ pounds with your FC.
Find a cat/dog and tie a ten pound weight to its tail and you will understand why.
Or, be the 1st and hold the FC tow record. As long as you drive safely and do not brake/accelerate like a moron, you shouldn't have too many problems.

oh damn.. you'ld kill your FC. for startes you'ld never be able to stop.. or if you can plan on replacing your pads and rotors cause it's gonna kill them.. your poor clutch is going to wig out. I think you'll see a maxium tow rating on the car and i'm sure it's not 2g's.. consider your car.. 2850lbs? roughtly.. and a car and trailer 2,000lbs give or take.. is your cars suspension, frame, brakes, engine designed to basically pull and stop it's weight times two?

I pulled a fair sized U-Haul with my RX-7. Granted it only weighed about 800 pounds loaded, but still I towed it 2000 miles to school. I did not bend, break or otherwise damage anything. I acclereated fine, I was able to brake without problems, and the pads and rotors and clutch are all fine. My hitch bolts to the frame with 6 big bolts and I had no problems. Towing a car is another story.

Bring your mom (she rents the truck). It'll be a nice bonding experience

Don't do it. When I worked at an import dealership...a guy brought his eclipse GSX in with a totally burnt clutch...yeah he tried to tow another car on his trailer hitch, and it blew the damn car up.

Cute pic, but it appears to be a fake. Looks like a model NSX and RX7 and trailer. There's no wiring visible on the trailer and the flash doesn't quite fit with the background.
Besides, I don't think an NSX would fare any better at towing another car than an RX7.
I really would not try towing another car with the 7, I'd rent or borrow a proper towing vehicle and do it right.
