$7500 doesn’t seem too bad to me, that’s in between the real price of a nice S5 N/A and a nice S5TII. You could argue that it was such a limited run car you want them to use examples similar to yours only but that will probably be a difficult fight.

Settle where you’re happy- if that’s $7500 and you keeping the car after the buy back, tell them that’s what you want to do.

Hope you're feeling OK.
My math says if you can keep the car and get >$5K, then it's worth it. Otherwise take the $7.5K since that's a solid payout for a 30yo GTUs.

I can't tell you which way to go, but I am impressed they offered you $7,500. That goes to show it isn't just an old used car anymore.

keep it AND get $7500?
what decision is there to be making?
if not the buyout should be a couple hundred dollars if that, it will cost them a lot of money in tow, storage, and auction fees by the time they get rid of that car they will be happy to have you take it off their hands right away. Heck man Offer them $1, not even kidding THEIR insured is the one who hit your car, you are the one with the **** end of the stick here.

Good point - it's ultimately a negotiation and you're the aggrieved party. Consider it a test of your negotiating skills.

Man these cars must've really gone up in value. I don' think I got half that when they totaled mine back in 2000. I'm with the others if you can get more than 5k and keep the car I think I'd go for it. I know it looks bad but surely if you can find a shell to cut your replacement panel out of it can be fixed for less than that. Keep us posted.

Man that sucks. I mean the salvage part. The money is good, but having a salvage title will hurt the value. To me that's really B.S. as functionally the car will be fine after the repair and shouldn't be considered salvage. But that's in my eyes and not the way it works I guess.

Too bad we are so far apart, I'd sell you this shell for the sheet metal to fix your car. GTUs are awesome cars. In my opinion it's worth fixing regardless of the salvage title due to the cool factor. (I'm biased though because I always wanted a GTUs.)
