Top won't drop?

I can't get the top to drop on my '91 vert. It happened after I had some work done at a shop here in Austin, but when I took it back they couldn't figure anything out. The fuses have been checked and all appear to be okay.

Has anyone experienced strange convertible top issues?

Thanks....

Oh and I'm looking for a new shop in Austin Texas if anyone knows a good one.

what work were you having done...was it related to the top, or anything in the area of the top..

also if you give more symptoms, the fellas may be able to help more

I knwo nothing of convertible tops but...
for example

can you hear the motor run when you hit the button to lower it (unless they go down manually)
does ti move at all or not budge a bit

What do you need done? I'm in Austin, have a fc vert, had a built turbo 2 and a few other fc's, I may be able to help depending on what you need

I've been doing some searches of the forum and found a few threads that gave some tips on what to try for the top.

The work I had done before the top stopped working was not related to the top, just a new master cylinder and overall tuneup at Japanese AutoTech here in Austin. Now I'm just looking for a reliable shop to take it to that knows how RX7s work...

This might sound stupid, but do you have the parking brake up? It needs to be set for the top to work. COnversely if it is set, but the ECU doesnt know its set the top wont work either. (ie broken or malfunctioning e-brake switch.)

Just a thought.

Okay...the problem is the ignition switch. I read on another thread on the forum that someone "jiggled" the ignition key and the top started working, so I did the same and presto the top went down....go figure...
