Top Speed on a Bone Stock FC?

I was driving to and back from the HardRock Casino here in Hollywood, Florida at around 2am when there were no cars.

The FC only hit 120 Top in 5th gear.
I was holding the Pedal to the Metal but she wouldn't go past 120 at all.

I've done all the maintenance

Has anyone here gone faster than 120+mph on their FC?

erm you are bone stock? lol like cats and everything?

when I have my stock exhaust that is about where I topped out. I put on some after market exhaust and got her up to about 135

Edit: yeah stock tires are terrifying at high speed (I have tiny phone dials) :O

You are never going to hit top speed in 5th gear with the NA transmission, ever. With full exhaust you should be able to redline 4th gear which is ~140mph. I did it three times with a full exhaust on stock ports.

I guess I am super lucky. I can do 120 pretty easy in my vert, but the feeling like I am going to go airborne on every bump isn't my idea of fun.

On my GTUs i hit 130mph around 7k RPM's in 4th. Very solid, felt like it could do at least another 10-15mph

Mines worked, i hit limiter in 5th which is only 6500rpm at the moment, but it did it fairly easy, unsure of exactly how fast it is as the jspec speedo only goes to 180kph, and well i was shifting into 5th around the time it went off the clock, was prob about 240kph

Betcha $100 that your stock NA won't run 150 MPH...with or without problems.

I don't know if it has anything to do with the fuel... Because here in Portugal we use 95, 98 and 100 octane... I've allways used 95

Where's my $100??

Sorry, but your speedometer is hardly accurate enough to accept as proof of anything save forward movement. Hell, for all we know, you're running 12" rear wheels.
Let's see a radar trap ticket.

IIRC, Mazda only claimed a top speed of 128 MPH and you know they did everything possible to get there.
Once you cross the 100 MPH barrier, aerodynamics starts to become the dominant factor...not horsepower, not fuel octane, not driver ability and the RX just doesn't have the body to reach 150 MPH without some serious modification.

Lol... Whatever dude... I'm running 15" wheels stock on the GXL model.. If that video doesn't show you that the car can run that speed it's not my problem...
But as KhanArtisT said:

The speedometer is far from accurate at high speeds. Show the tach and speedometer in the same shot and then that might be considered proof.

with home depot cold air intake, pace setter header, and 2.5" straight pipe all the way back i hit 150 before i chickened out in my 88 GXL. i agree though past about 90mph you can kiss accuracy out the window. in all reality i was prob only goin about 135 or so in real mph

well im pretty sure mine is close because some idiot in a newer civic with all kinds of Vtec stickers tried to pass me while i was cruising at 80 mph and then go in front of me and kept tapping his brakes so i pulled out and gave it hell. my speedo was reading 120 and climbing and he was long gone and couldnt even slightly keep up. I stayed on it until he was out of sight so i wouldnt have to deal with him again.

it was kind of funny because there was also some modded integra running with him and that couldnt keep up either. I even let him pull up next to me a few times and get a good start then i would down shift to third and give it hell and blow right on by him.
